UMD101 - Demonstration course for Marmoset

This course is a demonstration course for the Marmoset project. Anyone can sign up for the course, no credit is given. We'll provide several projects, which both give you a chance to show off your programming skills and learn how Marmoset works. The instructor for the course is Bill Pugh.

Note that we'll be doing peer code reviews in this course; any code you write will be seen by others, and you will be asked to provide code reviews for others. Please be polite and helpful.

Projects

• P0 - First Java project - square a number; simplest possible project, just to see how Marmoset works.
• P1 - Java warmup - Several simple methods involving integer parameters that require you to perform operations such as division and reminder. The functions you need to implement are:
  • boolean isOdd(int x)
  • int firstDigit(int x)
  • int distinctValues(int x, int y, int z)
  • int bitCount(int x)
• P2 - FizzBuzz - from Using FizzBuzz to Find Developers who Grok Coding
• P3 - Multi-tap text entry - from Google code jam 2010 qualification round, South Africa. The release tests for this example are the small and large practice inputs from the code jam.
